Korean_rok  /  1:1 Coaching

Korean, built
around you.

Private sessions shaped entirely by your goals, your level, and the way you actually want to use Korean.

Before we start

You're probably not afraid of the grammar. You're afraid of getting it wrong in front of someone.

That's normal — and it's exactly why this is 1:1, not a classroom. No one else is listening, no one's keeping score. Every mistake you make with me is just information — a place to get sharper, not a performance to be judged on.

A course teaches everyone the same thing. Coaching teaches you the one thing you need next.

How it works

A typical arc

Coaching isn't improvised. Most people start on one of two eight-session arcs — then we bend it around your level, your goals, and whatever you walked in wanting.

Everyday Korean

Get around Korea on your own — cafés, restaurants, directions and all.

  1. 1Greetings & introducing yourself
  2. 2Ordering at a café
  3. 3Convenience store & numbers
  4. 4Ordering at a restaurant
  5. 5Directions & when you're lost
  6. 6Getting around — taxi & subway
  7. 7Shopping & numbers in action
  8. 8Small-talk survival & full rehearsal

Real conversation

Stop sounding like a textbook — hold your own in real talk.

  1. 1자기소개 2.0 who you are, why Korean, what you're into
  2. 2약속 잡기 making plans — when, where, shall we meet
  3. 3취향 말하기 opinions and preferences, and how to say why
  4. 4어제 이야기 talking about the past
  5. 5계획 말하기 talking about what's coming
  6. 6리액션 진짜요? 대박 — sounding like a person, not a textbook
  7. 7카톡 한국어 texting and KakaoTalk Korean, its own language
  8. 8진짜 대화 twenty minutes unscripted, recorded, played next to your first

Where you start, how fast you move, what we swap in or skip — all yours. The eight sessions are a spine, not a script.

Your workspace

One page, shared — you prepare on it, we run the session from it, and your work goes back onto it.

Every session, three parts

  1. Before — on your own

That session's page is waiting for you: ten words with examples, and one grammar point. Anything that doesn't land goes in your Questions for Rok list — I read it before we meet.

  2. During — together

We open with small talk and clear your questions, then work that session's dialogue: read it together, swap roles, and then say the same thing about your real self, off-script.

  3. After — back on the page

You write a few sentences using what we covered, and record a twenty-second version out loud. Don't read it — say it. Both stay on the page, and I go through them before your next session.

What you leave in part three is where part one of the next session starts.

It's paired with the self-paced courses: they build your foundation between calls, so our live time stays all about you speaking — and me fixing your pronunciation on the spot.

That material is public, all of it — every level, every lesson, laid out. Have a look at what we'd be building on.

Eight sessions a month, for a faster, deeper pace.

For a specific goal

A focused program for learners with something particular in mind.

Write-to-Speak Intensive

A focused program that turns what you can write into what you can say.

The Write-to-Speak Intensive above is the one program with a method of its own — you write, I mark it up, we say it aloud, and you keep the recording.

All sessions are 1:1 over video, 50 minutes. Spots are limited — I don't teach full-time, on purpose.

What students say

Your patience, encouragement, and positive energy create a welcoming environment where making mistakes feels like part of the learning process instead of something to fear.

Michelle · Levels 0–1 · 1:1 sessions

Before taking your class, I tried learning Korean through apps like Pimsleur and Duolingo; however, they couldn't provide the human connection, cultural insights, or personalized guidance that come from learning with a native Korean teacher.

Lucie · Levels 0–1 · 1:1 monthly

The lesson is very well structured and you give us psychological support, so we have the strength not to give up when things get tough.

Maria · Level 1 · 1:1 monthly

Some of my previous teachers weren't as detailed, or wouldn't correct my mistakes as I spoke — which is a priority for me.

Esther · 1:1 monthly

The most patient and kind teacher who isn't judgemental and gives you the space to make mistakes without pressure.

Victoria · Level 1 · 1:1 sessions

You don't let me coast easily even when I want to, and you don't allow me to hide behind what I do well. You pick up on my gaps quite quickly and make me catch up. That is, for me, the mark of a skilled instructor.

Write-to-Speak course

I was so scared because I didn't feel ready for the trip without vocabulary and sentences, but now I feel confident and I think I can do it!

1:1 monthly · preparing for a trip to Korea

I sit back and reflect on my learning and think about where I was at the beginning of the year, and I realise the progress I have made since working with you has been exponential — and my confidence has grown as well.

Victoria · Level 1 · 1:1 sessions

The videos are short, and Rok's explanations are engaging — he presents the information like a story and speaks at a pace that allows me to grasp everything immediately. After a long day of work and study, I actually consider watching these videos a prize.

studying while working

As a complete beginner, hearing the correct pronunciation and getting immediate feedback has made a huge difference for me. Time has been my biggest challenge lately, but Rok has been incredibly patient, encouraging, and supportive. It's been one of the best ways to build confidence.

complete beginner

I was definitely nervous at first, but your kindness made me feel very comfortable. I'm genuinely grateful for your guidance — you've already made a positive impact, and I truly appreciate the passion you have for teaching.
